BARRIER kicks off with first consortium meeting

In May, the BARRIER team came together at the University of Birmingham for our first project meeting, marking the official start of the collaboration.
Over three days, researchers from across the BARRIER consortium met to discuss the aims of the project, share expertise and develop plans for the research ahead. The meeting provided an opportunity for the different research areas within BARRIER, microbiology, bioinformatics, metabolomics and mathematical modelling, to begin shaping how they will work together throughout the project.
Alongside the scientific discussions, there was plenty of time for the team to get to know one another. Team-building activities included people bingo, a treasure hunt around the University of Birmingham campus, and an evening of virtual clay pigeon shooting at Clays.
The kick-off meeting was a great opportunity to bring the whole consortium together, establish connections across the different research teams and set the foundations for the collaborative work ahead.
